Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has hailed the promotion of Eagles left back Jamilu Collins’ Club SC Paderborn 07 of Germany to the Bundesliga 1 despite losing 3-1 away to Dynamo in the last league match of Bundesliga 2 played yesterday.
“Jamilu Collins’ club lost the away game but the entire team is happy because they still qualify for the Bundesliga. They qualify through best goal difference. Paderborn came 2nd and got the automatic ticket to Bundesliga 1 having edged Union Berlin to the 3rd position having same 57 points from 34 matches. But Paderborn had +5 goals difference to come up directly to the 1st Bundesliga. I feel so happy about this promotion.
“Jamilu Colins played a big part in this promotion by having a wonderful season. He did very well and played so many games from his position as a left back for Paderborn. He was both defensively and offensively good for his club. We are very happy for him and his club. This is good or his career and he is giving a good image for Nigeria. Now we have a player in the 1st Bundesliga.
“Right now Jamilu Collins is happy. When somebody is happy he will definitely be in full confidence, He will be very fit, his mind will be very positive which is good for the team. So he is in his best element going into AFCON in Egypt”, Rohr told SportingLife.
An elated Collins disclosed while celebrating his club’s promotion in the players’ dressing room despite losing 3-1 to Dynamo. “I am just too happy about this promotion together with my teammates. I cannot describe the feelings. I thank God for everything. I am just short of words. I am too happy as we speak now.
SC Paderborn 07 Captain Uwe Hunemeier also gave a pat on the back to Collins or his great contribution to the club’s promotion. “Today was not our best game but who cares. We got promotion today and its such a nice feeling. Jamilu was just a big part of this club. He played every game this season and he has improved so much. So he absolutely deserves to play Bundesliga next season. I am very happy for him”, he disclosed from Germany on Sunday.
