2019 AFCON: Eagles will play attacking football- Rohr

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has disclosed to SportingLife that his team would go full throtle on all attacking style when hostilities begin in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations holding from June this year in Egypt.

When he was asked about his philosophy and what type of style he would love to adopt in the competition he simply told SportingLife that “the best form of defence is to attack”.

He also emphasized on the availability of pacy strikers in the team which suits his attack oriented formations, tactics and style of play. He said any coach in his shoes would be elated to have these bunch of young, pacy and talented players at his disposal.

“Yes every team has its own philosophy and style of play. I like as well as enjoy attacking formation and style of play. The essence of a good team is to score goals and you score goals when you have good attackers which the Eagles have.

“We (Eagles) are an ambitious team going to Egypt for the AFCON and we are hoping to win the Cup like every other team that would come for the competition. But it is not going to be easy at all. But we are very hopeful like I said.

“Since we came back from the World Cup in Russia we had very young players who had joined the team and made it stronger. We have good players like Samuel Kalu, Samuel Chukwueze who are pacy and quality players. We have also in the team right now very young players like Jamilu Collins and Semi Ajayi and we are still searching for more. So we will definitely play attack oriented style which I know Nigerians like too”, Rohr disclosed to SportingLife from France, www.adantesports.com.ng gathered.
