APOEL Nicosia 3, Ermis 0: I feel really good and happy to be back in action- Uzoho

Super Eagles and APOEL Nicosia of Cyprus goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has expressed happiness for not only keeping a clean sheet in his club’s 3-0 victory at home to Ermis but for returning to action since he got injured  barely a year ago, www.adantesports.com.ng reports.

Playing his first league match of the season for APOEL and his very first league match since 2019 when he was injured for a year while on loan to fellow Cyprus team Omonia Nicosia, Uzoho was at his very best for APOEL in Sunday’s match and kept a clean sheet for his club in APOEL’s 3-0 home victory.

A very happy Super Eagles’ goalkeeper disclosed , “It was really good for me to get some minutes because that’s what I need now to get back to my very best. I am very happy to be back”, Uzoho told SPORTINGLIFE in an exclusive chat from his base in Cyprus yesterday.

Interestingly, before  Sunday’s match Uzoho was thinking of getting a loan move to another club when he wasn’t getting playing time under the sacked Coach Mick MicCarthy.

MicCarthy  had preferred goalkeeper Miguel  Silva as team’s first choice goalkeeper which relegated Uzoho to the third spot. This made the Nigerian shot stopper to ponder going on loan in this transfer window.

Uzoho’s had a change in fortune when McCarthy was sacked last week for club’s poor results. The new Coach Savvas Poursaitidis  handed Uzoho the first choice goalkeeping position in Sunday’s home match against Ermis. The Nigerian International responded with an impressive performance in goal and kept a clean sheet and also helped his club to record an emphamtuc 3-0 victory.

Uzoho has promised to work very hard to continue to do well for APOEL in their gradual you return to winning ways in the Cyprus top league.

“With hard work I hope to continue to be in good shape to help my club move up on the league table”, Uzoho told SPORTINGLIFE.
