Super Eagles and Napoli FC of Italy forward Victor Osimhen has vowed to help his team beat Sierra Leone on Friday when the two countries battle each other for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations’ qualification ticket in the first leg of the double header slated for the Sam Oghemudia Stadium, Benin, www.adantesports.com.ng reports.
The prolific scorer who joined the team Wednesday evening as a result of flight problems still believe that his team is capable of beating the visitors to snatch the 2021 AFCON ticket.
“I am very happy to be back in this team and I think the squad is ready to go on Friday. Nigeria should expect nothing but victory against Sierra Leone.
“But to be realistic the game will not be easy. We have to prepare well which we have been doing already and it’s also good for me to be back in the squad. I think we are ready and we will give our all to win the match”, he disclosed.
He, however said that he was disappointed that fans won’t be allowed to watch the game as a result of COVD-19 restrictions.
“Talking about the absence of the fans for the match, it’s disappointing when I heard this. But we understand the COVID-19 situation. It is important for us, I think, for them (fans) to support us from home and anywhere they are. But for their presence not to be felt at the Stadium on Friday is disappointing but we understand the situation”, Osimhen stated.
The Napoli star also promised to score and also contribute his all to ensure victory for his team against Sierra Leone on Friday.
“If I get to play I believe my goals will come obviously but the team’s victory come first before my personal ambition. I just want to help the team if I feature in this game and I am looking forward to the game”, Osimhen promised.
