Rohr invites 29 Eagles’ stars for Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia friendlies

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser/Chief Coach Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he would invite 29 players for the October 9 friendly match against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on the 13th of October slated for Austria, www.adantesports.com.ng reports.

The Franco-German football tactician said that he has already drafted 23 players and 6 (six) standby players for the two International games he already tagged as “very tough games”.

He also disclosed that most of his players’ would come from Europe while only the team Captain Ahmed Musa would fly in to into Austria from his base in Saudi Arabia.

Rohr however said with a disappointing note that one of the Eagles’stars who he failed to mention his name has been tested positive to Coronavirus and he is doubtful to make the trip to Austria. But the Coach is hopeful the player would soon be back to Eagles’ fold.

“Yes I will do a list of 29 players, 23 players and 6 standby players. There will be a few new faces also of course.

“It is a great opportunity that these two friendly games have afforded us to see new players, to test them and to have more competitions among our players jostling for first team positions in the team and then to come into the new team better in the special 10 days that we will spend in Austria Camp for this very, very important AFCON qualifiers.

“Most of the players will come from Europe, except our team Captain Ahmed Musa.

“We hope that there will not be any other restrictions because the COVID- 19 is still here. As you know it is (COVID- 19) growing in number of positive cases (in Europe).

“One of our players is also still positive but we hope he will be negative to COVID- 19 very soon”, Rohr told SPORTINGLIFE in an exclusive chat.
