OSMA Presidential election: Brigadier General Abdullahi says he has the qualities, credentials, achievements to win 

Brigadier General Maikano Abdullahi a senior officer of the Defence Headquarters who is aspiring for the post of President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and the Vice President of International Military Sports Council at the organisation’s forthcoming general elections is confident of achieving victory at the polls come October 7, 2020 when the election would hold via video conferencing.

The top military officer disclosed this at a press conference held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja yesterday while thanking the Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin for supporting his candidature.

Brigadier General Abdullahi also disclosed that he would be slugging it out with other three top military Generals in Africa for the top military sports position in Africa. “Four of us are contesting for this Presidential post for Africa, my humble self from Nigeria, we have a General from Algeria, and we have another General from Guinea Conakry and another General from Kenya”.

He is also upbeat about his chances of emerging winner at the polls. “I think I have an advantage. Firstly I served in Burkina Faso as the Technical Sports Officer of our liaison office. I also served in Yaoundé, Cameroon as the Deputy Secretary General of OSMA. I have a lot of friends that I have good relationships with one on one. The defence attaché in Africa have also been directed to work for me too.

“Let me state here that my vast experience in Sports, Fitness and Training coupled with my participation in both National and International Military and Civil Sporting activities enhanced my nomination for this post. I am a fellow member of National Association of Physical and Health Education Recreation Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD).

“I have won several National and International Awards in Cameroon, CISM Headquarters Belgium, Burkina Faso, Niger and Republic of Guinea to mention but few. As a Senior Officer in Defence Headquarters Abuja and Deputy Director Sports, if given the mandate, I will project the good image of Nigeria better in both CISM and OSMA, promote Military Sports in Nigeria and Africa. I will also ensure that our Continent is adequately represented in all CISM sporting events and World General Assemblies and it will also give me the opportunity to promote sports and encourage good sporting relationship among the 51 African Countries.
