Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser/Chief Coach Gernot Rohr has advised Leicester City’s defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Villarreal’s CF wing attacker Samuel Chukwueze to be very sure of playing regularly in any future clubs they may like to join.
The Franco-German football tactician insisted that playing regularly for a club is number one requirement and prequisite for being invited to the national team under him. He made it clear that he won’t invite a player who is sitting on the bench just because he is playing for a big club in Europe.
The Coach however commended the duo for putting up what he called “fantastic” performances for their clubs in the just concluded league season in Europe.
“(Wilfred) Ndidi and (Samuel) Chukwueze also after having a great season in England and Spain with their club Leicester City and Villarreal can have very good offers or find even better clubs. Right now they are in good clubs but could be in better ones.
“The level of our team (Super Eagles) could rise again. So we hope that they will have the best clubs but also that they will be playing regularly in those clubs. If you are in a very good club there are lots of big players and you have to fight hard to get your starting position.
“In the Super Eagles we need players who are playing regularly for their clubs. So I hope that all these things will happen and the future of our dear Super Eagles team will be brighter”, Rohr told SPORTINGLIFE in an exclusive chat monitored by www.adantesports.com.ng.
