2022 World Cup: Road to Qatar will be rugged says Rohr

The draw for the second round of the Africa qualifiers of the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be held on January 21, 2020, at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt but the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr is expecting another hard way for his team that seal qualification.

The seeding was based on the FIFA World Rankings of December 2019 and the Nigeria’s Coach is hoping his team gets a good draw but still believe the road to qualification this time around may be harder than the last edition.

Rohr also told SPORTINGLIFE that the real work as regards preparations for the qualification battle will only commence after next Tuesday’s draws in Egypt.

The Franco-German football tactician however has great belief and confident in the talent and abilities of his young Super Eagles squad to get one of the five tickets allocated to Africa at the end of the Africa qualifying series.

Rohr, it will be recalled led the Nigerian national male football team to book the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket with a game to spare.  He is also hoping for a repeat performance this time around.

“The way to go to Qatar will be very hard. After the draw the work of preparation, scouting and analysis will start immediately.

“We expect a very tough fight to be in the last 5. But our young team is able to do it. They are progressing from game to game”, Rohr disclosed to SPORTINGLIFE in an exclusive chat monitored by www.adantesports.com.ng.
